Charlie Rose was born to a middle-class family. Rose family was tobacco farmers. They also owned a general store. In his early days, Charlie Rose used to help his family in their general stores too. During his school days, he was very fond of playing basketball and he was even part of his High School basketball team.

After the completion of his High School education, the veteran journalist joined Duke University as a pre-med student. During that period, Rose got a chance to do an internship with a senator and this grew an interest in politics in Charlie Rose’s mind. When he came back from his intern, he changed his major to History. Here, Rose got an A.B. degree in 1964. Charlie Rose joined Duke University School of Law to earn a J.D. degree. He eventually got the degree in 1968.

Charlie Rose career took off in 1972 when he started working for Banking Trust. Later, he transferred himself to WPIX-TV as a weekend reporter. Later in 1974, Rose was hired by Bill Moyers for Bill Moyers’ International Report, a PBS series. He was hired as a managing editor. Thanks to hard work and dedication, Rose was promoted to executive producer of Bill Moyers Journal in 1975.  Charlie Rose also hosted a TV program, “A Conversation with Jimmy Carter” which was one of the parts of TV series, U.S.A: People and Politics. This program in 1976 was the winner of Peabody Award.

Later in 1981, Charlie Rose moved to Washington, D.C where Charlie Rose show, Charlie Rose was introduced. The Charlie Rose show was broadcasted in WRC-TV which was owned by NBC. He approached WNET-TV owned by PBS and located in New York City. Here another version of Charlie Rose show aired on 30th September 1991 which was syndicated all over the nation from January 1993. Later he transferred Charlie Rose show to Bloomberg Television for satellite interviewing in 1994. In January 1999 he was hired as a correspondent for 60 Minutes. He hosted the show till 2005 and the show was canceled after that time.
